England's wait for a trophy goes on as Spain triumphed 2-1 in Berlin to become the first nation to win the European Championship for a fourth time. Nico Williams gave Spain the lead just after half-time and La Roja dominated until Cole Palmer curled home from just outside the box to get the Three Lions back on terms in the 73rd minute. However, Mikel Oyarzabal finished off a fine move with just four minutes of the 90 left to give Luis de la Fuente's men a deserved win.

England captain Harry Kane admits he would swap his whole career to date for victory in the Euro 2024 final against Spain on Sunday evening. Ahead of the game in Berlin he said: "Of course, it's no secret that I haven't won a team trophy. Every year that goes by, you're more motivated and you're more determined to change that. I'd swap everything in my career to have a special night."

Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente has played down talk of his side being the one favoured to win the Euro 2024 final against England in Berlin. He said: "We know there is no favourite, it is a very, very equal game. We know that if we don't play above the level we have shown so far, are not completely focused, we won't be able to win."

Gareth Southgate says he does not believe in fairytales and wants his England side to make it happen in the Euro 2024 final against Spain in Berlin. He told reporters: "I am a believer in dreams. The run we've had, the late goals and penalties doesn't equate to it being our moment. We have to make it (happen) and perform. It would be a lovely story and it's in our hands."

Harry Kane has downplayed the fact that Spain are the favourites to win Sunday's Euro 2024 final and believes that the tournament England have gone through stands them in good stead for the Berlin clash. "We back ourselves against anyone we play against," Kane said. "We've been through difficult spells in this tournament but we've come through the other side. That builds a tremendous amount of belief and resilience, which is everything you need in a final."

Marc Cucurella is set to line up against one of England's better performers so far at Euro 2024, Bukayo Saka, but the Chelsea defender is relishing the task ahead of him in Sunday's final. "I know how Saka plays," Cucurella said. "It is so tough to mark him, but those challenges are nice for me. My main target is to make him feel uncomfortable." Cucurella also feels Spain will "have plenty of chances to win" if they concentrate on their own game rather than that of England.

Kieran Trippier is expected to retain his place in the England starting XI for Sunday's Euro 2024 final against Spain, despite being replaced at half-time in the semi-final win over the Netherlands. He came off on Wednesday night as a precaution with Gareth Southgate reportedly set to name an unchanged side to take on La Roja.
