Luis de la Fuente said he had been blessed to watch "a touch of genius" from 16-year-old Lamine Yamal, who scored a superb goal in Spain's 2-1 Euro 2024 semi-final victory over France. The delighted head coach told reporters: "We all need to take care of him. We count on him and hopefully we can enjoy him for years to come."

Head coach Didier Deschamps accepted that France had not been able to perform at the level required after losing out 2-1 to Spain in their Euro 2024 semi-final in Munich. He admitted: "When you get to the semi-finals and play a Spain team of that quality you have to be at your best and we were not."

Spain came from behind to beat France 2-1 and reach the Euro 2024 final. Lamine Yamal's stunning equaliser cancelled out Randal Kolo Muani's opener and Dani Olmo's strike decided the tie. La Roja sat back more in the second half but look a strong side and will be difficult to beat in the final.

Didier Deschamps is confident France superstar Kylian Mbappe can deliver in the Euro 2024 semi-final against Spain, having struggled so far after suffering a broken nose in the game against Austria. He said: "We are convinced Kylian is in the right headspace. He had an issue with his back, took a blow to the nose - it could have been the end of the road for him but he's still here."

Rodri is perhaps feeling the loss of one of his midfield partners, Pedri, the most and has called on officials to give players more protection. "As football players, we always want to be protected. This is the job of the referee," Rodri said. Whether that was a direction to Slavko Vincic, who is refereeing the semi-final between Spain and France, is open to question but Rodri is expecting "a very, very physical battle because they are a very physical team."
