Jude Bellingham was on target as England beat Serbia 1-0 in their opening Euro 2024 contest. The Three Lions started well and were well in control thanks to Bellingham's header, but they were pushed back in the second half and Gareth Southgate's side will need to improve if they are to be crowned champions.

Denmark and Slovenia played out the first draw of Euro 2024 in a 1-1 stalemate in Stuttgart in the opening game of Group C. Christian Eriksen became the oldest scorer for Denmark at a European Championship with a 17th-minute opener in a first half that his side dominated. However, Slovenia offered more of a threat after the break and Erik Janza's deflected strike in the 77th minute earned Matjaz Kek's men a share of the spoils.

Kylian Mbappe has hinted he is not at 100% full fitness ahead of France's opening game against Austria on Monday night by saying "my physical [preparedness] isn't the most important thing, the more important thing is to be mentally ready." Les Bleus' captain though insists that any issues will not be distracting him from the task at hand, adding "I am ready to win, to do everything to win".
