Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente believes he has the best squad at Euro 2024 at his disposal, but admits that that will not guarantee success. He said after a 4-1 thrashing of Georgia in the last-16: "With all due respect to the other players, we have the best team and players in the world. That doesn't mean we are sure to win, but we are going to fight for it."

France superstar Kylian Mbappe accepts that he has to wear an "absolutely horrible" facemask to play any part at Euro 2024. Ahead of a last-16 showdown with Belgium on Monday he told reporters: "I don't have a choice. That is how my tournament is going to be. I can only play like that."

Spain laid down a serious marker with a 4-1 demolition of Georgia, who had led early on through an own goal. Rodri equalised before Fabian Ruiz, Nico Williams and Dani Olmo gave the score a fair reflection of the gulf in class. La Roja, who had 36 attempts at goal and 13 on target, look better than quarter-final hosts Germany and will fancy their chances of winning Friday's tie.

England were a little over a minute away from exiting Euro 2024 and head coach Gareth Southgate praised the "fantastic character" his players showed to come back from the brink. The Three Lions boss also suggested Bellingham's equaliser was further evidence of why "you don't make changes when people are clamouring for more changes".

England survived an almighty scare in another disjointed performance, leaving it as late as possible to snatch an equaliser before overcoming Slovakia 2-1 in extra time. Ivan Schrantz's cool finish in the 25th minute looked set to secure a shock win before Jude Bellingham's sensational scissor kick in the fifth minute of stoppage time rescued a draw. And within the first minute of extra time, Harry Kane headed home at the far post to ultimately seal the Three Lions' progression. The goals were England's only attempts on target.

Georgia head coach Willy Sagnol expects his side to be positive in their last-16 clash with Spain, having beaten Portugal 2-0 last time out. He told reporters: "Like against Portugal, we will show the Spanish team and Europe that we are not only good at defending, but also using the ball."
