There’s a lot of players I know from the Premier League. We know their individual qualities and it's a semi-final so it will be tough. We’re building momentum. We came through tough stages at the start of the tournament and now we've got through another test so I think we're ready for it."

Granit Xhaka admitted he played with an injury in the penalty shootout loss to England. The Swiss captain was diagnosed with a torn adductor muscle in the build-up to the game but said he "went beyond his limits" in order to feature against the Three Lions.

Gareth Southgate has taken aim at the media for leaking England's tactics in the build-up to the shootout win over Switzerland: "Our tactical plan for the game was also shared three days before. We live in an amazing world where it’s so difficult for us because any element of surprise you might have with the opponent is gone three days before. It’s quite incredible really," Southgate said in his post-match press conference.

The Netherlands came from behind to beat Turkey 2-1 to set up a Euro 2024 semi-final date with England on Wednesday. In a rather cagey first half, Samet Akaydin headed home from close range to give the Crescent-Stars the lead in the 35th minute. However, the Dutch eventually responded after the break with Stefan De Vrij powering a header home in the 70th minute to level matters before Mert Muldur inadvertently bundled the ball into his own net under pressure from Cody Gakpo just six minutes later. Both sides had further chances to score but the Netherlands ultimately held on to reach the last four.

England captain Harry Kane has dismissed any concerns over his fitness after he was substituted in the 109th minute with the quarter-final against Switzerland heading towards a penalty shootout. "I am fine and I had a bit of cramp, the boss made a quick decision," Kane said. His replacement, Ivan Toney, scored England's fourth penalty in the 5-3 shootout win.

England are through to the Euro 2024 semi-finals after overcoming Switzerland on penalties after a 1-1 draw after extra time. The game didn't really come to life until Breel Embolo slid in at the far post to put the Swiss in front in the 75th minute. However, England were back on terms five minutes later when Bukayo Saka cut in from the right to rifle in off the post from the edge of the box. Declan Rice and Xherdan Shaqiri went close in extra time but neither team could find a breakthrough. Switzerland's first penalty from Manuel Akanji was saved by Jordan Pickford, and England were perfect with their five, Trent Alexander-Arnold rifling into the top corner to secure the win.

Spain have confirmed they will be without midfielder Pedri for their semi-final against France, and the final should they make it, due to a "lateral sprain" in his left knee following a challenge from Toni Kroos in their last-eight win over Germany. Dani Olmo replaced Pedri in the eighth minute of the quarter-final and scored the opener and provided the assist for Mikel Merino's last-gasp winner in their 2-1 success over the hosts.
